Boston Focus Jam Observations

Resistance

*** I resisted physical touch for quite awhile and found this was a way of touching the energy field of another.

*** When I started moving I was resonating with the opening remarks and feeling like I HAD to resist. Then I played with resisting and NOT resisting.....I found that ONLY resisting wasn't a lot of fun. Resisting gravity was a way to get up off the floor.

*** Resisting kept spinning into support, changing support. Resistance was a teaching tool to use with a beginner to teach her about support.

*** Resistance turned into listening to resistance and easing off when I felt resistance, although this was more during the massage I was giving than during the dancing.

*** Resistance made the dance into a choice...I was not really reading my partner when I was resisting, so the choice to resist or follow was more conscious, whereas usually when I'm dancing it's more impulsive.

*** I found myself resisting my resistance instead of accepting my resistance.

*** Resistance can be connection too.

*** Resisting ‘nothing’ and ‘everything’ were two very different ways to play with it.

*** I felt frustrated when I was resisting and I wasn't met with resistance....if resistance isn't met with resistance, it's a PUSH.

*** Pushing and pulling can only be done if two people are NOT resisting at the same time.

*** My exploration of resistance was very playful and that's how I connected. I felt sneaky doing it that way.

*** Somehow the focus of resistance meant everyone coming together....like we were in a "resistance movement" TOGETHER, and doing "resistance dances" together as part of the movement. It seemed like we were looking for "What can we do/resist TOGETHER?"

*** It was so funny how there was a lot of French being shouted out the whole night. The most common phrase was "Vive le Resistance!" said with a French accent.
